How Much Paper Does a Photo Booth Need per Year
The question almost nobody asks before buying the printer, and the one that causes the most grief afterwards. Here is the arithmetic with real catalogue figures, so you order by the season and not in a panic.
The Formula, Plain and Simple
Prints per event × events per year ÷ prints per box = boxes per year.
Only the first figure is yours to estimate. As a field benchmark: a wedding with 100 guests and photo strips runs 120 to 200 prints, and a three-hour corporate event with printing lands around 150. If you hand out two copies per photo, double it, and that is exactly where nearly everyone trips up in year one.
Cost per Print by Printer
With catalogue prices the arithmetic works out like this:
DNP DS-RX1HS with RX1 paper: 170 € kit for 1,400 prints, 0,12 € per print.
DNP DS620 with DS620 paper: 109 € box for 800 prints, 0,14 € per print.
DNP QW410 with QW410 SD: 65,22 € box for 300 prints, 0,22 € per print.
The QW410 is still the dearest per print, but the gap is a matter of cents. People buy it anyway, and rightly so, when they carry the kit themselves every weekend: it weighs about 6 kg against the desktop units. Just worth knowing what that convenience costs before you sign.
Paper Needed by Number of Events
Worked out at 150 prints per event, the sensible average for a wedding or a corporate event with straightforward printing. If you hand out double copies, multiply by two.
Order for the Season, Not Monthly
Three reasons to buy the paper for the whole season at once:
Shipping. Every consumables order to mainland Europe costs 19,90 €. Four orders a year is 80 € straight out of your margin.
The Saturday with no paper. The classic: May, three weddings back to back, and the box runs out at the second one. At nine on a Saturday night no supplier is going to save you.
Price. Consumables do not get cheaper with time, and thermal paper keeps in its box, dry and out of the sun, from one season to the next without trouble.

Original or Compatible
You see the saving on compatible paper in the first box; you see the cost a year later in the print head. Replacing a 1.399 € DS620 to save fifteen euros a box is a bad trade, and it is the most expensive mistake we keep seeing in this industry.
With dye-sublimation printers the paper and the ribbon come in the same kit anyway, as one complete consumable matched to that machine.
